Test server/database

I am still trying to remember the setting for 3.0 (it's been a while) but it
is the DLC= that must be run to tell the system where to find the progress
version you are using.
On the test environment you will have to set DLC= (then the pointer to the
8.3 install) and then I believe you will have to call out the full path and
file name of the version you are using to restore.
This should have you on the path at least. It has been to long for me to
give more details.

I think you may have something here. The live server is still on progress
8.3 but the test server is on progress 9.0. How can I be sure what is
running on the server. I know that they are both installed on the test
server. I have the progress 8.3 and in procontrol it is active. The progress
9.0 in procontrol there are no services active.

When I did this I just copied the backup.1 (or whatever it is called) file to the test server and restored it there. I've burned the backup.1 file to CD several times for Epicor to restore and examine our DB at their site.

Share a folder on the destination machine. Then use windows explorer to
copy the file to the share from the source. Works for our 3gb database.

Make sure you are working with a backup copy. I'm going to do this for the
first time myself and tech support warned me about working with the live
database. They can send you instructions. You need to make sure the live
database is stopped before using explorer. Bad things happen otherwise.

I'm going to try this with an old backup copy until I'm sure I know what I'm
doing.

Are you using the same version of progress to restore as you are running the

I think you may have something here. The live server is still on progress
8.3 but the test server is on progress 9.0. How can I be sure what is
running on the server. I know that they are both installed on the test
server. I have the progress 8.3 and in procontrol it is active. The progress
9.0 in procontrol there are no services active.
