Hello all,

Does anybody have a program, that can go through the entire Part Maintenance list and change the setting for the "Generate PO Suggestion" and "Process MRP"? These options are on by default and we would like to turn them off. Does anybody have a program that can be altered to accomplish this? If not, does anybody have any suggestions on how I could do this.

I know others have warned against this, but I did just what you're
describing by accessing the PartPlant table through ODBC in Access and
writing an update query.

Try a windows macro program. I use Ground Control. You don't have to worry
about corrupting the database by writing your own code.

I know that epic or frowns upon making updates using ODBC. They say that doing such a thing could miss important triggers. I understand their logic but I believe that turning a switch on/off like the "Generate PO suggestions" would not be affected by this concern.

I have gathered information in access using ODBC but never have I updated information. I give this a try along with a windows macro program suggested by Patrick.

When I have that sort of task, I use Macro Express to set up the
keystrokes. I know others on the list have an assortment of Macro
programs that work well for them.

Just as a note, I have a little thing that Epicor gave me a while back (when
we installed MRP). It does just what you ask and can even turn them all
back on. You might want to ask support about it. It was called ResetMRP.r
and was for version 5.0.

Actually I think they should charge for them ... say $ 2,000/each ...

This could be a new revenue center for them if they advertise all of the
little utility programs they have laying around.

This could be a new revenue center for them if they advertise all of the
little utility programs they have laying around.

Don't forget the coterminous fee (not sure how it is spelled, I just know it
is the pro-rated yearly fee in the service agreement) and then $200 a year
to support the utility.
