The real db file doesn't show up in the new folder

You can use either:

A: 9.0 probackup of the old with the 4.0 database shut down , 9.1
prorestore of the new (make sure your source of the old points to your
production database) - or -

B: 9.1 procopy of the old with the 4.0 database shut down to the new.
Again, make sure the source is the old production database.

Please help. We are in the middle of moving 4 to 5 and after copy
the db file following the guidance. The only thing we see is the
training db not the real one. What's wrong? Any idea is very much
appreciated.

If I recall, you aren't supposed to copy the database, you are supposed to
make a backup in 4.0 and restore it to the 5.0 directory. Try that instead.

Do Remi (fa so la),

If you use the procopy command, remember the following:
procopy is located in x:\epic50\progress\bin and you should use the version of procopy that came with your NEW database, not the one your are copying FROM.
If your New and Old database are named vantage.db, and
If the Source (4.0) Database is located in y:\morrocco\vantage\db, and
If the NEW Destination (5.0) Database will be located in z:\epic50\vantage\db

Then your procopy command would be:

x:\epic50\progress\bin\procopy y:\morrocco\vantage\db\vantage z:\epic50\vantage\db\vantage

(procopy source destination)

--------------------------
Otherwise, you can use the Progress Backup/Restore command as Brian mentioned, in which case you could use: (assuming the same paths as above, with the backup called "backup.1" located in w:\backdir)

x:\epic50\progress\bin\prorest z:\epic50\vantage\db\vantage w:\backdir\backup.1

(prorest Destination backupfilename)

---------------------------
Hope this helps
