I've heard through the grape-vine[1] that you may be able to take the
sting out of upgrading to SQL Server and Windows Server 2012 by
purchasings Small Business Server Premium using Software Assurance.
I'm told you'll be able to upgrade to the full versions of these
products later. This doesn't completely remove the financial hit as
your SA will go up at the end of the three year term but it should
spread the cost out. SBS will only be available for another month or
so...
