Time Approvals in Epicor - 9.05.700C

Simon, you are awesome!  You answered some of my other questions as well.

I’ll test this out today and see if other questions pop up…

Thanks again!

Manasa,
For once I can answer a question off the top of my head.. :)

Add an additional authorized user to the workforce of the person who is going to be away.  You do this in Workforce Setup.

You can also setup the default authorized user, and if you have multiple authorized users and no default then when that user opens Time and Expense approvals it may not default to the logged in users Salesrep code and if you don't have reciprocal Authorized users you will get an error message.  Or if you do they will only see time awaiting approval for the other persons reports. That can be very confusing.

The Worforce setup has menu items all over the shop.  But you probably will want to find it in Service Management->Expense Management->Setup.

By the way if you are looking for the workforce table, don't bother it is named SalesRep, go figure that one out.

We found we had to be very wary where were settin g up the approval logic also, as you can do it on the project or the employee.  When we first started we had approval workflow for supervisor and project manager.  We had a lot of projects setup with the Approval method of Project level and the workflow of PM and Supervisor.  This caused all sorts of grief as we had supervisors sitting on time for approval, not willing to approve it as it was not their project,

To simplify now all of our projects are now set to project manager approval only.  Indirect time is approved by the supervisor.

Sorry for the ramble.

Feel free to ask any other labor questions. I may be able to help.

Just so you know we are not a manufacturing company, we mainly use Epicor 9 for Consulting/Project Management, CRM/Sales, Finance and Support.

We have been looking at scheduling lately, but it is very complex for our needs.

Cheers

We finally got the license for Time Approvals in Epicor.

As I went through the process, I was wondering how people who are using it, handle backups?  If my supervisor is out for whatever issue, how does his backup approve time in the system?

I definitely do not want to have to change the employee supervisor to the backup for a short time.  I was wondering if there was something I missed that could handle it.

TIA,

Manasa
