Time change - this is weird---> response to Matt's query

If anyone needs a workaround to the clock errors this was just posted to the
Progress User's Group as a workaround.

Matt,
I am running the same DLL versions, although I can't confirm the version of
the system32 DLL beyond 4.20

Let's check what version of MSVCRT40.DLL everyone is running. We
don't seem to be having any problems, on the Vantage server our version of
MSVCRT40.DLL is:

winnt\system32 directory = 4.20.6172
Vantage\dll directory = 4.10.6038
progress\bin\system = 4.10.6038
My dll's are the same plus I have them in:
\epicor/vantage/av/avwin
\dell
\I386
\I386\inetsvr\odbc
Plus 4 of my old DWC directories

I have versions:
4.00.5270
4.10.6038
4.20.6178
4.20 do not distribute server only

Matt,
I am running the same DLL versions, although I can't confirm the version of
the system32 DLL beyond 4.20

Let's check what version of MSVCRT40.DLL everyone is running. We
don't seem to be having any problems, on the Vantage server our version of
MSVCRT40.DLL is:

winnt\system32 directory = 4.20.6172
Vantage\dll directory = 4.10.6038

To access the Files Section of our Yahoo!Group for Report Builder and
Crystal Reports and other 'goodies', please go to:

Vantage 4.00.904, Progress 9.0B

WinNT\System32\msvcrt40.dll......4.2000.0.6172
epicor\progress\bin\system\msvcrt40.dll.......4.10.0.6038
epicor\vantage\dll\msvcrt40.dll......4.10.0.6038

My data collection is 1 hour behind my server time. Do I copy the newer
version into the vantage and progress directories then re-boot? Can this
impact other things in progress?

NO NO NO, do NOT replace any of the runtimes with 4.20.xxx, I have been doing more reading, that 4.20 version is named the same, but is NOT the same DLL (talk about your DLL HELL!) It is some kind of "forwarder" for use in NT only. Here is some info:

The Windows NT 4.0 operating system Forwarder version of the MSVCRT40.DLL is

version number 4.2000.0.6172. This DLL comes with the operating system and it

cannot be redistributed. Do not replace this DLL with any other version. To view

the version of the MSVCRT40.DLL, click Properties in Microsoft Windows Explorer.

Verify that "4.20 - OS use only. DO NOT DISTRIBUTE" is the version.

Windows 2000 operating system Forwarder version of the MSVCRT40.DLL is version

number 4.2000.0.6201. This DLL comes with the operating system and it cannot be

redistributed. Do not replace this DLL with any other version.

I have both version 5 and 4 on our server, upon searching for this
MSVCRT40.DLL file I found that the versions are the same but the file date
for ver5 is 10/30/00 on the one found in the vantage/dll directory. No
other differences.

Progress tech support confirms the error, they are currently saying to
"Uncheck Day Light Savings on your Server and manually set the time ahead
one hour to adjust and if you want the client to print report builder
reports with the correct time to adjust the client ahead an hour also."

NOW it seems that even the same VERSIONS can be different! Here are the DATES on the 2 that seem to be most important, again, our systems are displaying all times correctly...

MSVCRT40.DLL

progress\bin\system = 1/31/1997; version = 4.10.0.6038
vantage\dll = 11/03/1999; version = 4.10.0.6038

Maybe this is a dead-end, but it sure seems to be somehow related!

My dates and versions match exactly to Matt's and the only issue we have is
with RB reports subtracting an hour from the workstation time. No issues
