Time Phased Blank Title 60326

Time Phase Inquiry uses temporary data tables populated on the fly by the Adapter when a Part is loaded into the Form.

Short of buying the SDK and creating your own variant of it, changing the sort sequence is not likely achievable.

It may be possible to set up an excel workbook to utilize Time Phase's xml file. Once in excel, you could re-sort anyway you felt appropriate.

I've never tried this, but that is one of the benefits of .NET (the xml behind all forms can be used by other appropriate apps).

If anyone has experience with this, please share.

Are you talking about the time phased report? I don't see a way to change
the sort on that report(?)

Stan,
Did you change the sort by? If you use the one Job/Part/Order by they
should then appear on top of the list in the PO suggestions.

Yes, we buy almost everything direct to a job and almost
everything is
unique so not added to our part master. Our purchasers run the
"generate suggestions" a couple times a day and order anything
new. In
ours, it definitely includes non part master parts.

I am trying to determine a way to alert purchasing when there is

something required only for a job. i.e. the material is
purchased
only for a "one-time" job as a "Purchase Direct" material line,
and
therefore is not added to the part master. Typically the
purchasing
agent will run the time phase with the "exceptions only" checked
off
to see what (part master parts) are needed to be purchased. When
a
job has a "purchase direct" material line it only shows on the
time
phase if the "exceptions only" check box is left unchecked.
Running
the report with exceptions unchecked like that shows all
material
requirements including the ones already on purchase orders. In
our
case running the report as exceptions only usually is around
50-70
pages; unchecked is well over 300 pages. The report of course is

structured around material items that exist in the part master
and
typically will have parameters associated with the inventory set
up:
below safety, below zero, etc. (That's why the purchase direct
items only show with the box unchecked. Has anyone found a way
around this, or another method for alerting Purchasing when
non-part
master parts need to be ordered for jobs?

Do your purchasers use the Purchasing suggestions (Generate
suggestions)? We use these and seems to be all we need, but then
again,
we have very little we actually stock so it may not apply if you
have a
lot of stocked items as well.

Mine do not show unless I run the report with the "Exceptions Only"
unchecked. The difference for us is that unchecked it shows everything
including things that are already on order. So the Purchasing agent runs
the report with the box checked so only the stuff that hasn't been ordered
yet and does not meet the inventory set up criteria (below safety, below
zero, etc.) appears.

Yes, we buy almost everything direct to a job and almost everything is
unique so not added to our part master. Our purchasers run the
"generate suggestions" a couple times a day and order anything new. In
ours, it definitely includes non part master parts.

Thanks for the response! I don't think the generate suggestions
function is
used routinely, but I tried that to see and it didn't seem to show the
non
part master parts. Do you purchase parts for jobs only that are not
added
to your part master?

I am talking about the PO suggestions. When you run the "generate
suggestions" it doesn't give an option (on 5.2 anyway) and just runs for
everything. Then, when you go into PO entry and look at the "new" po
suggestions, it shows everything that the system thinks needs a new po.
Any non part master part added a job should show up here as needing a
po. You can sort this list by job#.
