Time sync Blank Title 99344

Ah, OK. "That" code. :-) Yeah, I don't have the SDK.

Yea, we use the net time statement in a bat file on many client
workstations that are finicky with syncing with the domain.

It's in the compiled Progress program code itself. I don't own Vantage
source code, so I can't tell if it is in there or not. If its not
(which I'm led to believe from past experience), then the time stamps
are based upon the workstation itself and not the server.

What you might try as a possible workaround to keep the workstations
close in sync with the server time, is create a routine on the
workstations that does a NET TIME \\vantageserver /SET command and sync
the workstation's time to the vantage server. Then just schedule it as
a reoccurring task once to several times a day. That should keep the
times close to in sync.

Michael, curious, where in "what" code is this set? I checked the
obvious .mfgsys files in \Config but I don't see it.

Actually there is a TIME-SOURCE attribute for the SESSION, the default
is the client's workstation. If you want to use the time from the
server you have to set the TIME-SOURCE attribute in the code to
something like this: ASSIGN SESSION:TIME-SOURCE = "mfgsys"

Not sure what is coded into Vantage........ I had to add this line in a
lot of my code so that all time stamp entries from any pc workstation
all were the same time as the Vantage server.

How does vantage keep track of time? I thought the Vantage clock was
synced to the server but I have recently seen discrepancies of up to a
minute during the day. We are on version 6.10.533

Thanks,

Chris
