Time

So I guess this is the best Y2K fiasco that we're gonna get.

Vantage V 4.0.904

Time in D/C is correct ...

From Progress report writer ... new report ... time is off by 1 hour.

Since the time is off from within native Progress I'm guessing the problem
is not Vantage, it's something in Progress.

Todd Anderson
ProControl (the window with the grinding wheels) is showing the incorrect
time as well...

The time on RB reports is picked up from the local workstation running the
report. I changed my workstation time and ran a RB report. It showed the
time printed as 1 hour less than my workstation. No relation to the time on
my server or in Vantage.

More weirdness...I changed the date on my workstation to Sunday April 8 and
the time printed correctly on my RB reports. I think that someone in
Progress thought the time did not change until next weekend??

Server Time = OK
Procontrol - Gears Screen - 1 hour behind
ProMON - 5 Activity Screen - 1 hour behind
Client Data Collection - 1 hour behind
Report Builder Reports off of Vantage Menu - 1 Hour Behind
Report Builder - 1 hour behind

If I move my Client PC 20 minutes faster, my Report Builder reports on that
client are: 1 hour behind plus 20 minutes faster.

Yawn... just got out of bed, and fired up computer to check email. Seeing
all the time problems I checked my, uhh, test server.

Both the client & server had been down over night. Both came up with the
time auto-adjusted by windoze. ProControl reports the time still being an
hour behind, as does data collection. I thought maybe the Progress service
started before NT had rolled the clock? I shut stuff down in ProControl,
and rebooted server. Still the same.

Shut down with ProControl, adjusted NT to turn OFF auto time adjustment,
manually bumped clock an hour, restarted database. Now everything looks
OK. Hope that helps the folks that can't shut down mid day.

My guess is Progress looks at NT's "adjust for daylight saving"
setting. But calculates the dates itself. And it is wrong.

This is Progress 9.0B44, Vantage 4.00.904 (though I suspect it's purely a
progress bug.)

Patrick,
When I took the check mark out of "Automatically ajust to Daylight....."
(Thanks Sharon) and reset the server's time manually, my Server time,
Procontrol, ProMon, and Data Collection appear okay. Report Builder isn't
okay, but I should be okay till the end of day when I can reboot.
Hope this helps.

I wonder if unchecking the ADJUST for Day Light does anything, you are
adjusting the time by putting your server ahead. Also if you are sync-ing
with other server or an atomic clock this will have to be turned off also.
