TimeClock that can ring bell

My first .wav file was Fred Flintstone's work whistle followed by
Yabba-Dabba-Do but the Director of Operations has a lesser sense of humor.

Hold your mouth close to the microphone and go "BONNNNNNNGG". Seriously,
anyone needing sound files I have a 2.5 gig collection that I would be glad
to share from.

How do you create the 800 hz for 3 seconds .WAV file?

I am looking for a barcode time clock that can be set to ring a bell
at certain times of the day. Overall the bell would probably need to
be set to ring about 20 times a day to signal breaks, etc. I don't
need it to interface with vantage because we do not use the payroll
module, though it would be nice if it could. Just wondering what
people were using. Thanks for the help.

Do you use Data Collection? Otherwise how do you enter job times into
Vantage? We do not use Payroll either but depend on Data Collection for
clocking in and out. We use Welch-Allyn bar code scanners (or I should say
under-use them at the moment). The shop bell ringing is done from the
server activating a tone on a sound card which is patched in to the plant
paging system. The schedule for times is maintained with Task Scheduler
which actually runs the program to produce the tone. Thus the time on
Vantage screen is always exactly the same as when the "bell" sounds. System
time is maintained via a program that references an Internet time source
once a day.

Formerly we used a special clock from ATS (American Time Systems) to trigger
a tone genreator in the paging system. Problem was it was never in synch
with server and people in plant learned they could clock in/out late or
early without penalty.

Yes, Windows will open the wave file but it leaves the player running.
Every time it runs another incarnation is spawned. After awhile there are
dozens sitting there not running. I downloaded a freeware program called
Quick Wave that runs once and quits. The task command executes Qwav.exe for
the file name that follows the command. In this case a 3 second 800hz tone.

OR, you could have task manager close media player after a minute under

Yes, Windows will open the wave file but it leaves the player running.
Every time it runs another incarnation is spawned. After awhile there are
dozens sitting there not running. I downloaded a freeware program called
Quick Wave that runs once and quits. The task command executes Qwav.exe
for
the file name that follows the command. In this case a 3 second 800hz
tone.

I believe you can simply specify the wav file, and windows will
automatically open the program that is associated with the .wav extension.
By default it is Mplayer.exe or mplayer2.exe depending on the windows
media
player version.

Do you use Data Collection? Otherwise how do you enter job times into
Vantage? We do not use Payroll either but depend on Data Collection for
clocking in and out. We use Welch-Allyn bar code scanners (or I should
say
under-use them at the moment).
System
time is maintained via a program that references an Internet time source
once a day.

Formerly we used a special clock from ATS (American Time Systems) to
trigger
a tone genreator in the paging system. Problem was it was never in synch
with server and people in plant learned they could clock in/out late or
early without penalty.

How do you create the 800 hz for 3 seconds .WAV file?

I used NCHTone (found at http://www.nch.com.au/action
<http://www.nch.com.au/action> ) a freeware tone generator. I recorded
using Windows Sound Recorded while it was playing and then edited to 3
seconds.

The answer is NCH Tone Generator.
You can find it in the web, or reply off list and I can send it to you.

Hold your mouth close to the microphone and go "BONNNNNNNGG". Seriously,
anyone needing sound files I have a 2.5 gig collection that I would be glad
to share from.
