Just what will a non-nettable bin do?

What about using non nettable bins for this inventory then create a simple
crystal report that list only inventory in non nettable bins?

Not sure if this will get you what you want, just a thought.

We are trying to track shop, janitorial, office, and other supplies
"inventory" in Vantage 6.1 though this is not one of its strengths. We
will
continue to expense them as we buy them, but want to keep, update and
report
counts separate from true inventory.

Has anyone else found a decent solution in Vantage?

This may be a silly request.. but does anyone have, or can point me to
a graphical representation of how the process database links to the
SQL database?

I jsut can't seem to make myself understand where the relationship is
being made...

Thanks,

Matt
Are you using SQL Server?

On the progress web site there is an MSSQL Server white paper that will
explain how everything is "supposed" to work.

Epicor only uses MS SQL Server as a storage container.

(If I remember correctly)
Vantage sends a request for data to Progress. Progress then performs the
business logic and sends the request for datasets to SQL Server broker. The SQL
Server broker then translates the 4gL code to ODBC and passes that information
to MS SQL Server. MSSQL Server then returns the result sets.

Scott,

This is one my "Post Implementation" goals (we went live in
December), but I do not have it in place yet. The "plan" includes
the following steps (so far):
-- Create a seperate warehouse for expensed items.
-- Create one or more Part Classes for expensed items.
-- Create an adjustment sheet for folks to use when the removed
consumables. Items would be tracked in useful units of measure
(boxes of gloves, gallons of cleaner, etc.)

Some of the challenges:
-- Expensed items used by multiple departments (and stocked
seperately).
-- Creating a process too complicated for it's payback.

I would also be very interested in what others have done.

Scott - I would be glad to collaborate off-line, if you are
interested.
