Is there a way in the system to track what the system suggested vs what was actually ordered? We are looking to track how many of the suggestions from MRP are ordered or jobs committed with and with out changes to them. If not would you suggest doing this with a BPM or Data Directive on creating of the PO/Job to a UD field to track what its suggestion number was?
When a PO Suggestion is converted to a Purchase Order, the suggestion record is deleted and no trace of it remains. Similarly, when MRP (or Generate Suggestions) runs in “Regenerative” mode, it deletes all suggestion records as its first step prior to creating records for the “current” demand.
The one time I was asked about this, all I know is that it became a nightmare Development project and I was not around to know if it was successful or not.
As a consultant, I would STRONGLY recommend finding out what your actual business need is here, and see if there is another way to address it.
