Transfer Inventory that has a Demand

We have been rearranging our parts warehouses. When we transfer inventory from one bin to another in Epicor, it leaves the job demand on the original bin. When the job backflushes, it then creates a negative on-hand quantity in that bin. Is there an easy way to transfer the demand to the new bin when we transfer the inventory?

There are a lot of variables involved in where Epicor decides to backflush from. If you check the help, there is an article on Backflush Hierarchy. I have found that some versions tend to follow this better or worse than others. I suspect you may also need to clean up some of the following.

  1. Planning Contract
  2. Input Warehouse/Bin of the Resource of the Related Operation
  3. Input Warehouse/Bin of the Resource Group of the Related Operation
  4. Backflush Warehouse/Bin of the Resource of the Related Operation
  5. Backflush Warehouse/Bin of the Resource Group of the Related Operation
  6. Primary Bin of the Part Warehouse associated with the material part
  7. Part Bin of the Part Warehouse associated with the material part
  8. First Bin in the job material warehouse that has an available quantity

Additional Notes: FIFO Costing, and Part Class Negative Actions can also affect the outcome

Yikes! Doesn’t sound like an easy way… I’ll dig in.

It may not be as daunting daunting as it sounds. If you shuffled some inventory around to different bins in the same warehouse, you might just need to clean up #6 and/or #7. They may still be pointed to the old bin locations.
