Transferring Ave Unit Cost to Standard Unit Cos

I have to correct myself here. In 5.0 at least, the Cost Set Entry feature (used to be called Standard Cost Rollup), allows you to set new Standard costs for your Manufactured AND Purchased parts depending on a number of options that you select. One such option allows you to copy the current average costs for each part over to the Standard. Or you can "roll up" costs to create a standard cost according to what your burden and workcenter costs are to 'simulate' what standard should be.

Thanks to Doug Williams, Director of Development at Epicor, for the explanation of how it works.

ABOM Standard Cost Rollup won't work for us for two reasons:

1. It doesn't update the Standard Cost on Purchased parts.
2. It adds up labor steps at the current burden rate. We need it to simply transfer the current Ave cost and make it the new standard cost. That way our inventory value won't change during the transfer. Later we will adjust the Standards to be more accurate.

So, we are looking for a nifty method of changing the average cost for each part and copy it to the appropriate standard cost field for that part.

Hi progress gurus,

I had some excellent help from some individuals using progress to convert our
9,323 parts from Average to Standard cost, and also to eliminate some errant
country codes in 3.0 before our conversion to 4.0.

Now, I have 9,323 parts with 0 (zero) Standard Cost. Anyone have a simple,
fast way to transfer the current Average cost of each part over to it's Standard
Cost field? (This would apply to each unit Burden, unit Labor, unit Material).

We really don't care if there is no Transaction History on these parts (as
would happen if you did a cost adjustment) since the inventory should be exactly
the same value before and after the transfer of the costs.
This could be done in Vantage 3.0 or 4.0 or 5.0 since that's where we're
heading anyway.

Another option might be to do this using Access, linking live through ODBC. Any
comments on that as well?

I just tried the Standard Cost Rollup (now called Cost Entry in 5.0). But when I tried to add a group, I got a -L error. My -L is 25024 as per EraNet instructions. Any ideas why I can't add a group?
