Traveler Shipping Release Sort Order

You can fix this in Crystal ... add the release date to the sort sequence

Goto Report / Sort - the default is Jobnum/Bomseq - Add Jobship.Reqdate ???

Right, we're a job shop getting dragged kicking and screaming into
repetitive mfg (and trying to do it without finished goods inventory too!)
but the problem is Vantage seems to be doing it both ways with no apparent
pattern. Some travelers (actually a new crystal report of the traveler that
shows only shipping info) show it in ascending date order and others in
ascending release #. Way back when we first started there was an issue with
this and I think it was related to the date format and how it treats dates
with single digit "days" or "month" in the sort. It never caused us a
problem before but now has caused a late shipment (shipping people stopped
reading at release 2 with a date next week and missed release 3 with today's
date) so the shipping manager is getting pretty "excited" over this. It
looks to me like Vantage 4.0 is trying to create the dbf file in required
date order but sometimes goofs on the date sort. Or is the sorting done in
Crystal where I can fix it?

Thanks,
-Todd C.

All I can tell you is originally vantage had releases sorted in release
order. Works for a Job Shop but when you work with blanket orders,
repetitive manufacturing with 50 or 100 releases for a line item over a
period of time they have to be in date order. So what I have seen since
version 2.7 to now version 5.0 is the gradually change to date order thru
the system. So the quick answer is JOB SHOP with couple of release, release
order preferred, blanket order repetitive manufacturing crowd, request date
order.

Quick question about the job traveler print order for shipping releases.
Looks to me like there is a field "SORTREQDATE" in the shipping .dbf file
which seems it should sort in date order in spite of the release numbers.
That is, release 3 could have a date prior to release 2 so should print
before release 2 (kanban releases to different locations and customer
changes all result in mixed up release dates). We are seeing (in Vantage
4.0) sometimes the releases are sorted in date order and in rare cases not.

Can anyone confirm the releases are "supposed" to be in date order and not
release number order? I'm just trying to figure out what "right" is
supposed to be before I decide something is wrong.
