I have a second license to test the newest version and was wondering if I should install it on the same server as our production instance or on a separate server?
Absolutely second server. As far as I can remember, you cannot control the install of Solr so I’m not sure how two ECM versions would interact (Solr is crucial to processing the workflow stuff so I’m told).
I’m all virtual so it’s easy for me to say ‘new server’ - are you virtual John?
