Unable to log on oddity

I think I will give support a call on this one. I don't have the license
reset utility yet. It is no show stopper, but still kind of odd.

Do you have the license reset program from Vantage support? We have had to
use it here since version 5.0 of Vantage. It seems that Vantage gets
confused as to how many licenses are availible. Progress will have the
correct count and it will look like there should be licenses available, but
you will still get the max users until the license reset program is run.

Randy/Lee,

I double checked it; user doesn't have the ability to run multiple
sesions,
there are no ghost sessions open. Still user gets max # of users
exceeded...
Like I said, very weird...

Go to Promon and make sure he doesn't have a "ghost" session running. On
5.1, you have the option to limit users to one log on at a time. If, for
some reason, they have to reboot while Vantage is running, it could leave
a
"ghost" session. If they try to log on again, it gives the message
"maximum
number of users exceeded". To log out a user, use option 8 in Promon.
The
option says "shut down database". It will then display all sessions.
Select option one to disconnect the user and enter the session #.

Anyone ever seen this one before?

Vantage (5.1) has at least a handful of unused seats available.
User tries to log on, but gets a "maximum number of users exceeded"
message.
Vantage Admin has no problems logging in at the same station, and with
"change user" function from the Vantage menu the regular user is able to
log
in w/o any problems.
Close down the Vantage session, regular user tries to log on by himself
and
once again gets the "maximum number of users exceeded" message.

I am about to reinstall the Vantage client for this user, since I don't
see
anything out of the ordinary. Hopefully someone has seen this happen
before
and can advise me, or at least let me know I am not going insane....

Paul
the non-admin user probably does not have the security seting "allow multiple sessions" enabled... and has an orphaned sessions hanging out there.
