Unattended install

Unmap all the drives except the one Vantage is installed on. Otherwise, it
looks on EVERY drive you have mapped plus any local ones.

Most of my Vantage install is unattended during the time set up is looking
for an installation of Progress on the network. I usually go grab a bite to
eat...

Has anyone ever figured that one out?

Sorry Bruce, couldn't resist...

Hi,

Has anybody ever seen or developed an unattended or automated client
install?

Thanks,

Bruce Ordway

Bruce,

Call Vantage tech support and find out if Vantage client setup will work
with (on W2K and up) Intellimirror software deployment package creation. It
allows you to create installation packages (MSI & MST files) that run all
the way through when executed on the client ws, or can be run automatically
when the user logs in by setting up a group policy. Epicor may even have
created their own front-end for MSI creation. I use it for MS Office
installs, and MDT deployment. Makes the job easier - once you get the
learning curve behind you. Vantage client installs never take long for me,
so I don't worry about automating them.

Good luck.

:-)

I'm just looking ahead.
I'll have to set up clients soon.
It's pretty boring going to each workstation.

If you disconnect all the network drives except for the one Progress is on
it will go much faster. It searches all network drives until it finds the
progress installation on the network.

I did notice that when we installed Progress 9.1.D for Vantage 5.2 it
doesn't search anymore. Instead it lets you pick the location. Much
faster.
