Happy 2025! I have been getting a fair amount of tickets that have gone unanswered about needing a UOM changed here a UOM changed there.
I believe former employees were able to do this in Epicor 9 as we had the system completely on-prem, but in Kinetic, I am really not seeing a way to do this as these parts are being used all the time.
I’m basically looking for any semblance of a chance that UOM’s can be changed at all once the parts are in circulation, so I know if there’s not, I can go back to the users and tell them they have to make a new part instead with full confidence.
Note: You can change the assigned UOM class for a new part until the time it is used in a transaction of any type (for example, inventory, sales or purchasing). However, once the part is used in a transaction, this field is disabled; the associated UOM class code can only be changed using the Part UOM Class Conversion Maintenance program. Refer to the Part UOM Class Conversion Maintenance help for more details.
So it looks like you can change UOMs using the part uom conversion. We always told our users once a UOM is set, its set! obviously there may come a time when we switch the way we do things but for the most part, the uom needs to be correct the first time around. you shouldnt have to swap them out often.
I know I tried the conversion tool but even then, it gives me errors and I’ve seen that once a transaction has occurred, you’re out of luck with this tool as well.
Definitely feel that GIF at this point lol. It’s been a long time dancing around the issue.
