Hi all! I wanted to share some updates regarding the open sourced tool, Epicor EFX Manager I have released in early May. A few new modules, and some cleanup on outstanding items.
Environment Compare
Diff two environments against each other.
- Functions tagged Match, Different, or Only in one side. Drill into any function for Code, Signature, and Metadata diffs, plus library level stuff like table/service/assembly refs and DirectDBAccess.
- BPMs compares custom C# and widget structure. It parses the XAML, so real logic changes show up and dragging a widget two pixels doesn’t.
- Layers Kinetic app layers per app, including ones that only exist on one side.
- Any row opens in VS Code’s native side-by-side diff editor.
Pushing a function across environments
From the compare screen you can apply a function’s code from one environment to the other. It verifies the code actually landed before telling you it worked. If the target library is promoted, it demotes, updates, and re-promotes it for you.
Local / Github References
Pulled files can now live wherever you point them, on disk or inside a repo, organized per profile. Makes it a lot easier to feed them into other tools.
Auto-update
Auto-updating is now available. I don’t know how to set it up directly with VS Code, so the extension just checks for its own updates.
Other things since May
- Edit function signatures (add/remove/change request + response params) and save them straight to Epicor
- Visual editing for common BPM widgets
- Multiple profiles and companies, with passwords/API keys in VS Code’s secret storage instead of a settings file
- Promote/demote libraries, regenerate/validate, toggle table refs between read-only and updatable
- Execute panel now lives in the bottom panel, and DataSet responses render as an actual table
