Update receive time only on the job

Hi all,

We are currently using receive time as a tool to be able to get MRP to bring parts into stock sooner than they are actually due (so that the start date order by date appears sooner)

We have set the receive time as 30 days for some mfg parts (the actual mfg time on this is ~1 day). However, when we need some parts urgently and raise a job for it, the due date always gets pushed out by a month.

Is there any way we can directly change the receive time on a job? Only for that job I want to change the receive time from 30 to 2

Doesn’t seem like it. I searched the JobAsmbl, JobOper, and JobOpDtl tables and didn’t find anything. According to both the MRP Tech Ref and Scheduling Tech Ref manuals, the only places to define Receive Time are at the Part > Site level and the Part Class level.

I would ask, since the job itself takes only a day or so to complete, is it NECESSARY (as opposed to merely beneficial) to put it in the schedule if its for immediate need? An option (that would require a change to your current process) would be to use Kanban Receipts to automagically create the job and do all the transactions, and whoever does that also prints out the traveler and gives it to the shop floor. There are a LOT of other things that will need to be accounted for (like the operators DO NOT clock their labor, it’s already been done), but maybe worth the thought experiment.

To use Receive Time you’d need to create a separate part number, and then remember which one you want to use in a given situation.
