Updating PartLot table from Receipt Entry

Ok Guys:

Finally figured out the issue with displaying the 'Fire! ' message.
Linux did not like the backslash in lib\PublishInfoMsg.i instead it prefers a forward slash lib/PublishInfoMsg.i. :-)

So, the message appears now and the code is indeed firing. Now we have discovered that the "For each" row is preventing the UpdateTableBuffer.p from running. Currently it is set to:

For each ttRcvDtl where ttRcvDtl.RowMod = 'A' or ttRcvDtl.RowMod = 'U'.

When we change it to read:

For each ttRcvDtl where ttRcvDtl.RowMod <> 'Z'.

It works just fine and is firing off the UpdateTableBuffer.p statement.

We cannot seem to display a message showing us what the value of ttRcvDtl.RowMod is. I would have thought that (A)dd or (U)pdate would have worked. Is the RowMod statement even necessary?

Regards,
James

I have created a user defined field in the "Stock" tab of the Receipt Entry screen. This text field is associated with {RcvDtl.ShortChar01}.

I have also created a user defined field in the Lot Entry screen and it is associated with {PartLot.ShortChar01}.

When receiving stock into the Receive Entry screen, I want the RcvDtl.ShortChar01 field to populate the PartLot.ShortChar01 field based on the Lot Number in the Receipt Entry "Stock" tab.

I have managed to add the following code to the Receipt.Update method directive under Post-Processing tab in the action section under the part that should be executed before the designed actions:

For each ttRcvDtl where (ttRcvDtl.RowMod = 'A' or ttRcvDtl.RowMod = 'U') no-lock.
find PartLot where (PartLot.Company = ttRcvDtl.Company and PartLot.PartNum = ttRcvDtl.PartNum and PartLot.LotNum = ttRcvDtl.LotNum) no-lock.
if available PartLot then do:
Run lib\UpdateTableBuffer.p(input BUFFER PartLot:HANDLE,'ShortChar01',ttRcvDtl.ShortChar01).
end.
end.

I get no errors when saving the directive or validating it, nor do I receive any errors when receiving stock into the Receipt Entry screen. I've checked the Rcvdtl table and the ShortChar01 field is definitely being populated with the data, it just isn't making it over the the PartLot table. What am I missing? Thanks for anything that can point me in the right direction.

See if its firing put this in your code

{lib\PublishInfoMsg.i &InfoMsg = "'Fire! ' "}.

To make sure your query is excecuting properly, if you don't get a message
Box with the word Fire then something is up!

Also you have No-Lock on partLot, but you are updating it. you may want to
remove that.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Jose,

First, I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to address my issue. I can certainly see from scouring the many threads on here in search of resolutions that you are an invaluable contributor to a lot of the inquiries in this forum. I'm sure a speak for most when I say it is truly appreciated.

I took your advise and removed the no-lock on PartLot. I also added the msg line you gave me. However, after copying it in and clicking on the OK button, I receive the following message:

** "libPublishInfoMsg.i" was not found. (293)
** Could not understand line. (193)

I failed to mention in my original post that we are currently on Vantage version 8.03.409c if that makes a difference.

Thanks again,
James

Are you using lib\Publishinfo? your error makes it look like you are
missing the slash

{lib\PublishInfoMsg.i &InfoMsg = "'Fire! ' "}.

James,

I am on 8.03.409c and use this code regularly with no issue's so it is not versioning. I do have to agree with Jose that your error message points to a missing slash. The only way I was able to replicate the error was to remove the slash. Stranger things than a copy/paste not working perfectly have been known to happen. Please double check your code and possibly even just re-type the offending line to make sure the editor isn't seeing anything wonky from the copy/paste.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for your suggestion. I've done both copy & paste and manually typing in the line, but I still receive the same message. This time I uploaded a screenshot of the source code window and the exact message I receive so that you can see for yourself. Perhaps I am missing something you can spot in the screenshot. It's in the Photos section and entitled "Code error msg"

Thanks!
James

James,

I looked at your screen shot and it looks good to me. I do not understand how you are getting the error the way you are getting it. Again the only way I can replicate the error is to remove the slash, but obviously you have the slash in there. Unfortunately this is beyond me. Hopefully someone else that knows better can chime in and help you out.

Silly questions maybe

Is the lib folder in the correct place?

is PublishInfoMsg.i in the lib folder?

Thank you very much Greg for your assistance with this. I'm glad you could see the screenshot and agree that all looks good. I certainly couldn't figure out why I was getting the error. Like you mention, hopefully someone else has seen this before. Again, thanks for your help!

Cheers,
James

The only way I was able to replicate the error was to remove the slash. Stranger things than a copy/paste not working perfectly have been known to happen. Please double check your code and possibly even just re-type the offending line to make sure the editor isn't seeing anything wonky from the copy/paste.

The only way I was able to replicate the error was to remove the slash. Stranger things than a copy/paste not working perfectly have been known to happen. Please double check your code and possibly even just re-type the offending line to make sure the editor isn't seeing anything wonky from the copy/paste.

I am logged in as myself as I am setup in User Maintenance as a Security Manager. Oddly enough, when I log in as Manager and drill down into Method Directives to the Actions window, the "Advanced..." button one clicks on to bring up the source code window is greyed out.
