We are currently preparing to upgrade to version 4.0. Our vantage
server is a Pentium Pro 200 w/ one processor and 256 mb of ram and
mirrored 9 gig SCSI HD's. (We have approximately 35 vantage users) We
were planning to upgrade the server to 2 processors and a total of
630 mb of ram and add 2 additional 18 gig SCSI drives, but due to the
cost of the memory and drives for the Pent. Pro, I am wondering if we
would be better off building a new machine with dual PIII 800
processors, a gig of ram, and 2 36 gig HD's. The new machine will
cost more than the upgrade, but I am afraid we may be forced make the
change in the near future anyway.
Any feedback on performance issues between 3.0 and 4.0 would be
appreciated, as well as any configuration recommendations.
