Upgrade to 8.03.04

I don't know about running an upgraded test environment alongside an
existing live environment, but...

Have you considered making use of a virtual-server? We're using a
virtual environment to stage our report conversions (from Report-Builder
to Crystal) and to validate the upgrade process itself. VMWare
(http://www.vmware.com) has a free product (VMWare Server) for creating
virtual machines, as well as another free product for "converting" (or
cloning) an existing physical-machine and creating a virtual-machine of
it instead (or in addition).
