I’m planning on upgrading Epicor soon, but I remember the last time we upgraded (400.9 to 400.18) it caused a lot of problems with reporting and the task agent, etc. and pissed everyone off. Are there any similar obstacles when it comes from upgrading fromm 400 to 500? Or anything specific to 500.19? Thanks in advance!
Hi Luke,
have you considered upgrading directly from 400 to 600? We recently upgraded from 400.29 to 600.2, following the upgrade procedure on Epicweb made it a breeze, and no issues have arose with the configurators or any dashboards.
We have considered that, but we’re a little worried about stability. Version 500 has 19 waves of bugfixes released already, while 600 just now came out. We intend to upgrade every time a new version comes out, but stay a version behind the most recent release until all the bugs are fixed.
I don’t think all the bugs will ever be fixed!
The only thing I’ve seen is sometimes the ARInvoice posting rules need to be reloaded.

The 10.1 cadence has been much better than previous iterations for
releases. I have a contact that’s on Epicor cloud (SAAS) and they had no
choice but to move up to 10.1.600 when it came out. The few “bugs” they did
find were already fixed in 600.3 so thus far, Epicor has been really good
about keeping up on issues. That said, we’re all only human so errors will
be made and no software will ever be perfect.
500 has been very stable so don’t let the .19 scare you away.
If you have custom reports you will potentially run into issues with base form changes.
