User4User Conference

I'm filling in for Calvin by sending out this email to the group.

I'm sure that many of you have heard the "buzz" surrounding the User4User
conference that is being held in Chicago on Aug. 8th and 9th. There are
still spots open for the conference and we would like to get as many
registrations in before 7/1/02 as possible. Plus, you save $25 by
registering by 7/1/02. We have had many folks tell us that they want to
come, but they haven't sent in their registrations. There are only 250
spots available and this is the best "bang for the buck" conference you will
ever attend.

Don't miss out!!! As an added bonus, if you respond within 24 hours, you
will receive Mike England's Greatest Blues Hits absolutely free. This 2 CD
set includes such greats as "My Balance Sheet stopped balancing", "Patch
Blues", and who could ever forget the awesome blues ballad of "I haven't
seen my baby since we upgraded to 5.1". This will definitely become a
collector's item.

Visit http://www.vantageusers.org/u4u/ <http://www.vantageusers.org/u4u/>
for more information.

See you all there!

I'd like to get some feedback from the list about the announcement of the
User4User conference in August. Is this something that looks interesting?
I haven't heard much talk, one way or the other, about this event and I'm
curious as to why that is.

I heard a great deal of buzz on the list after the last two Epicor user
conferences: the cost to go; where they were held; the value of the
sessions, etc.

Your thoughts on this one, please.... Anyone....???

Steve, I took a look at the sessions being offered and enrolled. The cost
is reasonable and worth the trip to Chicago. Was pretty easy to justify. I
am hoping that there will be reasonable attendance, and would also like to
hear what kind of response the mid west group has been receiving.

I too would like some additional information. Is this truly a user
conference or is this some unauthorized 3rd party behind this event? Is this
event endorsed be Epicor? Will any 3rd party vendors be there (i.e.
Progress, Crystal, Microsoft)? Will actual users be conducting the sessions?
Will there be any computer based interactive sessions? Will there be any
Epicor staff involved? Any other useful details would be appreciated.

Thanks

The rumors that I have heard is that it is a consulting company behind the
conference and that it will be done entirely with PowerPoint presentations
because they do not have licensing for Vantage. Also I have been told that
this is not endorsed by Epicor.

Hey Steve, We ( well I did anyway ) missed you at the last couple of
user group meetings so I'll fill you in on what I know. This conference
is truly by users for users with the focus entirely on training and
knowledge sharing. It was organized primarily by Misha1 ( Calvin, Mike et
all )
with the full support of the Mid-West Users Group (MWUG). It is true that
Misha1 is a consultant but it has been my experience that they are not
heavy handed in selling their services. We (MWUG) are striving to make
this conference a valuable training tool for all levels of users an will
only be successful if everyone gets involved, comes, and shares their
experiences. Epicor was asked to let us do live demonstrations
of the program, their lawyers said no. Epicor was asked to conduct
some Webinars during the conference, last I heard they were thinking about
it.
There will not be a vendor 'hall' as we wanted the focus to be on training.
I attended Perspectives last year and although the entertainment was
tremendous,
the training was sales oriented and very basic. This conference is intended
to do the opposite. We'll make time for some fun, but we are hoping that
everyone at the training classes gets involved and helps each other solve
their business problems. The facility is very nice ( we held the last MWUG
meeting there ), there is special pricing if you sign up before June 15th,
and
the cost is amazingly low. I encourage everyone to make time for this.....
it will only be as good as we make it!

( Calvin.....if I made any misstatement of fact please correct me. )

I was in vacation for a couple weeks and just got back this week, maybe
that's why I haven't heard anything about this, or is it only for the
Midwest users group? If 'anyone' can attend, is there someplace I can go to
find more info? (agenda, costs, location, dates, etc...) We have a plant
in Chicago, so I could probably piggyback this with a trip out there...

Sarah,

Also, if I remember correctly this is limited to the first 250 people. If it is something you are interested in. I would not wait to sign up, I would think seats are
going fast.

Thanks for the feedback! I checked out the information on-line and this
looks like it is going to be an AMAZING educational / knowledge sharing
opportunity at a very low price.

Unfortunately for me, the dates coincide with another vacation I have
already booked, so I won't be able to go. I'm hoping someone else from my
company can attend in my place, I'll get right on that now that I know
there's a limit. Otherwise, I will go to the next one, if it happens.
Thanks again for the info!

My thanks to those of you that replied, on-list and off!

If you haven't had the opportunity to check out the topics being covered,
you really should check out the conference schedule and see what's planned.
The location is one that you can get cheap airfare for, the cost of the
conference is minimal (especially considering that it includes the hotel
room), and the experience of meeting and talking with other Vantage users
that are facing the same issues that you are.

Think of it as all the good things about the list except that you get to
meet the people face-to-face and have more than five minutes to respond to a
question. Sometimes I see people ask questions on the list that I _could_
answer, but can't afford the time to explain the whole process especially
via email. This is a forum to take the time needed to do it right, to look
in the face of the person you are trying to communicate with and get
immediate feedback.

I am scheduled to teach a couple of the sessions at the conference. I'm not
getting paid to do this; nobody is (at least that I know of!). I'm just
another Vantage user that has been around the block more than once and is
ready to share what I know. Everyone is volunteering their time and efforts
to help out the Vantage community as a whole. This can be an incredible
experience for everyone that attends - IF we can get enough people to make
it happen.

Please take a moment to check this out and consider the positive impact it
could have on your company's operations!
