Using Epicor TSG - Americas for Kinetic Conversions

Anyone used the Epicor TSG for converting classic screens to Kinetic. Would be interested in turnaround time, overall opinion of work done.

I didn’t use them for conversion, but I did use them pre Go-Live to do some dashboard development.

I really hate to say it, but you’re kind of at their mercy based on their backlog and also based on who the project gets assigned to. Are you getting one of the “A” team, if so, hours are reasonable. Are you getting one from their “C” team… hours might be higher. On the flip-side, they do seem to work well together and I’ve been on calls where they pull in additional resources (“A” team) if they get stuck.

Turn around time may also depend on how much you push. If you can work with your CAM to try to get higher priority, they may be able to push a little on your behalf. Again, since we were going through implementation, we had an Epicor Project Manager pushing things through, which I have to assume helped.

Opinion of their work… it worked. And being a novice in Kinetic customizations, everything looked impressive and I couldn’t truly evaluate good vs bad practices. But, like anything, they’ll deliver you a product and you need to test the bejebus out of it to make sure it works the way YOU expect it to work. If not, go back, have a call with them, explain what didn’t work to your liking, and they get back to work… along with all the other projects (so again, response time varies).

I had some dashboard which were created quickly by some skilled people… I had others that dragged on for a long time. I wouldn’t be afraid to hound them, and if its not getting done in a timely manner, escalate. They’re working for you, but you can’t just lob it over the fence and forget about it. You have to become the Project Manager and push.

For anybody reading this post, THIS is the critical piece. Whether you are hiring Epicor TSG, an Epicor partner, an independent consultant, or your controller’s wife’s uncle’s best friend’s son-in-law.
