Here is an example of using a filter on a dashboard (without a search, just typing a value into the field). From what I understand, parameters don’t work, or are fairly buggy. So the approach is having no parameters in the BAQ, and then filtering in the dashboard instead.
Build a simple BAQ on transfer order header
Create two data views – one for the BAQ, and one for the input text box.
Create a new dashboard in application studio. No wizard, use the Type = Dashboard.
Build the BAQ Data View
Click on Data Views button on the left side (waffle icon)
Click the (+) button next to the search pane
Select the option for “Data View Guided Setup”
Source Type = BAQ, Next
Select the BAQ to use (BAQ = MM_TFHed)
Pick a name for the Data View (BAQ_DV)
Leave defaults on the Filters , BAQ Parameters
Click Finish on summary screen.
Build the text box Data view
Create the 2nd dataview (for working with the Text Box)
Click the (+) button next to the search pane
Select the option for “Manual: add a new data view”
In the Data View box, choose a name for the Data View ID instead of NewView (calling this TextBoxView)
Give the same name to the Data Table (TextBoxView)
In the Columns section, click the (+) button
Under Column input “Search”
Under Data type, select “string”
Back on the Dashboard Template screen,
Verify your input text box has an Id and a Label Text.
Bind the textbox to the dataview (TextBoxView):
With the text box selected, go to the Properties button on the right
Then expand Data
In the EpBinding field, enter “TextBoxView.Search”
With the text box selected, expand the Behavior menu on the right.
Click the (+) button on the “On Create” line. This creates the “inputTONum_oninit” action
From the Toolbox section on the right, expand Row Actions.
Drag a “row-update” action next to the EpBinding. It should auto-connect with an arrow.
Select Properties, (+) if needed, Columns, (+) if needed, then:
Ep Binding = TextBoxView.Search
From the Dashboard Template page,
Select the “no records available” section.
Navigate to: Grid Model > Provider Model
In the Ep Binding field – enter the BAQ data view (BAQ_DV)
In the BAQ ID field – enter the BAQ ID (MM_TFHED)
Navigate to metafx_panel-card-grid > Grid Model > Provider Model > BAQ Options
Click the (+) button on the Where List.
Column = BAQ Column name to filter on TFOrdHed_TFOrdNum – have to use the Alias from the BAQ!
Condition: equals sign (=)
Value: ‘?{TextBoxView.Search}’
*Don’t copy and paste a formatted single quote. It’s not the same character as when you type it into application studio.
*You can also use a Where instead of Where List, for a single statement.
Preview, and the dashboard should filter as you tab out of the field. I’ve deleted out the data, but you get the idea.
