Using Kinetic with DocStar during the drawing approval process

Anyone set up Kinetic to be the front-end to access documents in DocStar ECM?

We want to allow users to be able to view and print drawings via Kinetec (which will be stored in DocStar) but the version control to be managed in DocStar by designated librarians.
The librarians control what is uploaded to DocStar but the engineers need to be able to print, markup and review drawings.

We want to keep the number of DocStar licenses to the 2 allocated for the librarians.

Any ideas / experience out there?

Thank you.

Not to jump into @MikeGross’s territory here but you can have two Named licenses for your librarians.

Access from Kinetic does not consume a license. At least it didn’t when I was using DocStar/ECM. You would modify the Security Groups in ECM to limit who can read and write particular document types.

Thanks @Mark_Wonsil :slightly_smiling_face: for the assist while im on PTO.

He’s correct, your scenario will all work as he said.

Thanks @Mark_Wonsil & @MikeGross (sorry for the delayed reply).
