Using Vantage with steel plate

Hi,

We have a similar problem with bar.
What we do is create bins labelled with the approx length. Eg Bin01/3ft Bin01/2ft.

You could do something similar depending on the max size of what you cut and how square they tend to be.
Create bins only for whole SQ FT or that meet set sizes.
It won't be 100% but gives you an idea on screen and its better than manually checking every time.

Regards

Wayne

How have companies who are using Vantage managing steel plate issues related to the following challenges:

a) Knowing the shape remaining on hand from a cut/burned our irregular cut?

b) Do you issue/inventory by the weight?

c) How do you handle left over plate sections after the cut for placing back into inventory?

d) How do you know that the demand size you need could be satisfied w/ existing inventory?
I.E. Inventory is by lbs. and it could say you have 3000 - but that might consist of 10 pcs w/ dimensions that don't fit what you need

e) Does anyone have a tool to go out and compare a rectangle w/ dimensions against graph pictures of existing inventory to see if there is a hit and if not that would drive MRP to buy new?
