Hi,
Warning, only try on a test account, etc. etc. etc.
If you add entries to the widgetsett table you can get an icon on the
screen altered, similar to the "personalize" and "customize" features
available through the menus.
Just haven't found all of the correct settings, or more probably the
plant floor just plain won't do it. It's awfully close though. It
displays the icon, and new properties, etc. just haven't gotten it fully
functional yet.
You seem to need to use one of the existing "Filler buttons", if you
look through the raw code these are hard coded, along with the
executable, security, etc, so it's entirely probable that it won't work
until we get to 8.x whereby this is supposed to be native.
Anyone else want to give it a throw and see if I'm just not smart enough
to get it over the line?
Take care,
Steve

I had a similar app, except it ran as a windowless app with 4-6 buttons
that placed itself on top of the Data Collections screen over the blank
area on top. To assign a command to a button you just had to define the
command line in an INI file. Worked well, but haven't used it in years.
Have to see if I still have it laying around somewhere.

We wrote an Visual Basic 6 Menu form that had Large menu buttons on it.
You could Launch Data Collections from it or other reports/programs. It
is hidden when Data Collections was launched and then made visible when
Data Collections was closed. If there was no activity for 5 minutes
then it relaunched Data Collections.
It was a simple application to write and it worked great. Sorry, I dont
have it anymore or I would share.
Thanks
Jeremy

Our IT Guru is working on programming something of his own to try
and place an icon on the shop floor terminal's desktop that will run
the reports/forms that we need. I'm not sure how, since all I've
heard since I got here 2 years ago is that the ODBC drivers don't
work very well. I think I heard he's doing something with java. I'll
keep you posted. I was just wondering if anyone else had already
tackled this problem and could have saved us a bunch of time and
effort.
