V8.03 Job Tracker Customization

Oddly enough, the Labor Rate and other private information that
shows in the Labor Transactions listing can simply be Hidden in a
customization. The problem is that the private fields in the
operation list cannot. Therefore the Field Security option is
required for those.

How do you hide the Labor, Burden, Total Cost columns on the Job Details
-> Operations -> List tab?

These particular columns are not listed on the customization view for
that grid. I have no trouble hiding other fields that are listed.
Appears that these costs are calculated at the time a job is brought up
in Job Tracker, but there should be some way to hide them in the list
view.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
We found the same problem and called it in to Support, to no avail. I
guess it is a "feature", not a "bug". You can hide those fields, but
when you pull up a job, they populate and show up again.

We fixed our problem by going to Field Security, and for the JobOper
table, we only allow Accounting to see the Actual Burden and the
Actual Labor fields, etc. When Accounting looks at the tracker, the
fields are there and populated. When anyone else looks at the
tracker, the fields are there, but are populated with zeroes.

Peter - Thanks for this info.
I also tried the Field Security route and that is not working for me.
Will review this and try again.
thanks!

I'm able to remove those fields from the list on Ver. 8.00.811B so
maybe they took a step backward with 8.03 in this regard.

Although, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to block.
Labor/Burden costs are also stored in LaborDtl as well so even if you
have JobOper limited by field security if you will still be able to
see the individual transactions. For example, go to the Job Tracker
--> Operations --> Labor Transaction, you would still get the
labor/burden costs by employee for the selected operation. Full
details are also available on the PDR if that's allowed as well.

Exactly what data are you trying to limit access and why?
