V8.03 Product Configurator

I am on version 6.1, so I am not sure this is the same. But if a
configured part is checked out it is not possible to make changes to the
configuration until it is checked back in.

I've started using the product configurator and have successfully
implemented a couple of configurable parts.

Now I have a part that is successfully implemented, but I can't seem
to open it with the product configurator to make changes.

Previously, I just went into the Part Maintenence window, selected the
revision, unchecked the "Approved" box, and saved the part. Then I
would launch Product Configurator, search for the Part, "unrelease"
it, and make my changes.

Now the part doesn't appear in the search window, yet I can enter it
in a quote, and run the configurator.

What are the exact steps to change a configurator?

Thanks in advance,

Nevermind...

The part was flagged as "Stocked". Apparently a part must be
"Non-Stocked" to be able to use the Product Configurator.

Calvin,

In your process I'm not sure what you mean "search for the part".

This is what I do:

1- I call up the configured part in Part Maintenance,
2- I go to the Revision Tab and select the revision I want to change from the Revision List, once selected I Uncheck the Approved Box (in other words I un-approve the revision)
3- With my cursor still on the revision I want to change I go to the Actions Menu, then the Revisions sub-menu and pick Product Configurator
4- Once the Product Configurator opens I select go to the "Parts/Rev" tab and I make sure I select the revision I want to change.
5- I then go to the "Status" tab and I un-approve the configuration.

Once the changes are made:

1- I go to the "Status" tab and I approve the configuration.
2- I then close the "product Configurator and call up the configured part in Part Maintenance,
3- I then to the Revision Tab and select the revision I want to approve from the Revision List, once selected I Check the Approved Box (inother words approve the revision)

This works for me.

One thing I found was that the effective date of the revision of the configured part I want to change must not be in the future. If it is, then no rules appear in the product configurator. This is a real pain in the butt, I have to change the effective date to today then I make any changes in the product configurator then I have to change the effective date back to the original date which was some time in the future. If the effective date is today or older then you'll be OK.

I hope this helps.

Ed
