V8.x Bar Codes Blank Title 56416

I have been through the manual, 400 pages, and there is a chapter on
programming along with dozens of pages of barcodes to scan but there is
no barcode for a TAB.

As for the Enter as Tab, I was discussing a way to make hot keys
standard for all users without logging on to every user and setting them
manually. Their reply was only the settings on the Global Options/Hot
Keys tab will apply to all users.

I will try the Enter as Tab route, perhaps they are wrong.

Thanks

Todd

You should be able to program the scanner to add a tab at the end of
the barcode scan. You do this by "programming" the scanner from
barcodes that came with the manual for the scanner

We use PSC PowerScanner wands and they came with a program manual
that contains the barcodes to program..

I dont think setting the Handle (Enter) as Tab to true affects all
users...I think it is a personalization thing...I will check it out
though...

I apologize for asking about this again. I know it has been covered and
I have been searching through my list archive feverishly for the last
half hour but cannot find it. I want to require our vendors to barcode
our PO, PO Line, the pack slip number and quantity data on their
label/pack slip so we can use a scanner to perform PO receipts.

Initially I thought I could simply program a post amble 'ENTER' into the
scanner so the cursor would advance to the next field and the next
barcode could be scanned. Then it occurred to me that V8 will only take
a TAB to advance to the next field. OK, first thought is go to Options
and set the checkbox to use ENTER as TAB. Problem here is Epicor stuck
this feature on the Global Hot Keys tab so checking it affects ALL
users. I can't do that. Next obvious avenue is to program a TAB as the
post amble character. Can't find a way to do that.

Is anyone doing this successfully, scanning barcodes and advancing to
next field without user having to press the keyboard TAB key? If so,
how?

If it is necessary to bury the TAB in the barcode, what is the syntax to
accomplish that?

Thank You

First

For a bar code scan I have
$M for return
$I for tab

Second

Enter as tab is per individual user but in "all screens" not, "all
users."

I set my Handel Enter as Tab to true and went and checked on another
system and the enter key would not send me to the next text box - so
this feature is local to the machine.
