Hi Ron,
First off, congratulations on not paying the Epicor ransom or falling
prey to upgrade cycle mania. I'm not being facetious. I really don't see
much difference in the versions other than the deduction from our bank
account. Epicor tech support is top rate but once a system is setup you
really shouldn't need to do much to it. We pay the support and I call
them about once a year. Now that's a toll call! Of course, I can't call
them after hours or on holidays when I am actually DOING hardcore server
mods.
I was running Vantage 3 on Citrix Metaframe. We are now on Vantage 4 and
on our way to 5. I don't know if Citrix XPs is the same but on Metaframe
I do this:
Log on as administrator at the local console. Setup the Vantage drive
mapping as you would on any other machine. Turn on install mode on the
Citrix machine. You can do this from the command line with this command:
change user /install
Install Vantage normally. The only thing the users need to do is to
setup the Vantage drive mapping. Basically it's just the same as setting
Vantage up on any machine used by multiple users.
Hope this helps,
James C. Boon

Subject: Vantage 3.0 Client Install on Citrix XPs
Hi,
I was hoping to get some feedback and advice on best practices
pertaining to the client installation of Vantage 3.0 on Citrix XPs.
Here is our configuration:
Vantage Database On NT 4.0
Windows 2000 Terminal Services / Citrix XPs
I browsed some of the previous topics and found some related posts,
however I am still confused as to the installation procedure.
Did you need to install the Vantage client multiple times? (ie once
for each user)What else was required for a successful install?
Any information you may be able to offer will be most apreciated.
Unfortunatly we do not have the luxury of a current Epicor support
contract.
Best regards,
