Vantage 5.0 Upgrade - Oddities

A couple of other oddities in our conversion over the weekend.

* One invoice on a customer who filed chapter 11 shows up in the AR aged trial balance with a ?? for the amount. It's an old invoice startup invoice that was never paid. As a result, the Grand total for the AR aged trial balance is also ??. Epicor is working on a fix.

* With the new Quality Module in 5.0, some of the MTL-DMR transactions got lost in the 5.0 WIP report (the MTL-DMR's don't show up). Everything was posted in 3.0 before we moved to 5.0 but these MTL-DMR's got lost in the shuffle - partly due to the next item below. We will have to do manual GL transactions to reconcile those things in 5.0.

* For some reason the default GL accounts didn't come over from 3.0. We had to reenter them in 5.0 for both the GL and AR. This is why the MTL-DMR's didn't know where to go.

* Custom Report Links didn't work right off until we did some changing to the ReportBuilder.vtg, Progress.pf, and Vantage.ini files (convmap error). Then we had to reinstall some of the Progress clients on certain workstations that already had Progress on them to get the Custom Report Links to work on those workstations.

* There were three minor glitches in our Custom Programming for Data Collection. They are working on it.

* We are still working around some MRP glitches even after the .322 patch related to Forward Schedule (as mentioned in a separate email to egroups).

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage 5.0 Upgrade - Oddities

I upgrade to 5.00.317 on May 25th. (1.1gb database, 7 hours to convert)

*) I'm finding it very stable and no performance loss over version 4.0
*) I have 15 data collection stations which are 60 and 90mhz PC's running
win95 & 98 some with only 16mb of RAM. Slow to boot but run data collection
screens just fine.
*) Any issue I ran across during the conversion process Epicor had the
answer for on the web site. This is a good thing.
*) Part Maintenance Screen - Buttons have been removed. (Users will call you
for weeks after upgrading) I'm not sure if this was a good thing.
*) Order Tracker - If you have different SHIP TO address one releases you
can not see them anymore. This was a bad thing.
*) Report Builder - If you have any reports adding Part.AVG or STD or LAST
costs to find out cost per ea. You will have to look at your formulas
because Material has been broken out to Material and SubContract fields.
Breaking out costs was good reviewing reports, ehh!
*) Report Builder - If you have any reports using the Order Release ShipQty,
JobShipQuantity, InvShipQty they will have been changed to OurShipQty,
OurJobShipQty, OurInvShipQty and their counter parts SelShipQty,
SelJobShipQty, SelInvShipQty are new. This is also bad if you have written a
lot of open order type reports.
*) Report Builder - BookDtl.BookQty is now BookDtl.OurBookQty,
BookDtl.SellingBookQty
*) New Field - JobOper.LastLaborDate, This is a great thing for Stalled WIP
reports in report builder or just noteing on a report the last labor date of
an operation without reading all labor tickets.
*) Posting Cost Adjustments to Jobs - You will have to enter a quantity now
so material costs calculate, must be because they added material burden as a
percentage. This you probably won't notice until you run accross it
yourself.
*) Purchase Order Receipts - With Lot Tracking turned on - verifies against
all lots now, not just the lots under that part. This is not so good if you
have the same lot number under different parts.
*) BOM Cost Report - prints the SINGLE level instead of the INDENTED level
version.
*) New table POBookDtl - For PO Change Information similar to Order
Management. But no data gets written to the table. Tech Support says it will
get removed in 5.1
*) Projected Sales Report - Listed in the 5.0 Orientation Book, no where to
be found in system.
