Vantage 5.1 db limit

Give it a five minutes or so before you clear that lock file. Sometimes
progress does a bit of cleanup after you turn it off.

We are on Vantage 5.1. We have no intention of upgrading. Our db size is 1.97 gb. I remember somthing a long time ago that your db could not be over 2gb. Does anyone remember if there is a db size limit for this version and if so how do we do a data split? Support indicated there was no limit on size but I am not quite sure of this. Thanks for any help.
Not sure in V5 but in V8 if your DB got too big you had to make some changes
in progress. I'd contact Epicor.

Epic portal should provide you how to configure the db. You need to split it at 2 GB, after that there is no limit theoretically. I know Progress was being used on some very large projects back at that time so I suspect it is completely scalable. We just upgraded from 5.1 to 9.05 this past January. (we are all still alive, despite numerous death threats)

Yes, you have to enable large file support if you want to grow past 2GB. It's a simple command you do in Proenv.

PROUTIL mfgsys -C EnableLargeFiles

Your DB must be offline when you run the command. Otherwise you will get some error about being in multi user mode.

If the PET shows that your DB is off, but you still cannot get past the multi user, go to your DB folder and look for a file that ends in .lk and delete it. After that you should be able to do it.
