Vantage 6.0 and Windows 2003

Hi everyone:

Anyone out there willing to share their insights on tweeking their 2003
server? What kind of server did you make it (file server, application
server, etc.).

We have an 8 GB database running on a test server and is running really
slow. What bothers us most is that only two people are connected to the
server and it is still slow.

Any info would be helpful.

TIA,

In quoting, can you guys tell me what you do to add freight into
the "total" cost of a part? I know there is a place to put freight
under a miscellaneous charge, but I dont want it there. This is not
freight we are <quoting> to the customer, but rather freight costs
to be absorbed into the part cost itself (the cost of freight to
bring material in, etc). Any suggestions? Right now, our quoting guy
is putting this in as a material line in mfg. details with whatever
cost he wants. I dont like this (and dont think this is the right
way) because then when I put in an order and link it to the quote,
which in turn links to a job, the job is created with a line item of
freight under material................couldnt you put this in as a
material burdern mark up under the worksheet?
Thanks in advance for any help guys, appreciate it.

Michelle,
you can go into the part master and put in a Material Burden Rate
Percentage. In the help it states "percentage of receiving costs for a part
that are not directly related to the part itself such as import duties".

Freddy-
Thanks for responding. I dont want to put in the part master, as the
freight costing we add all depends on quantities. I.E, we get
freight delivered from American Meter and A.Y. McDonald if a
particular shipment comes out to $$$$XXXX, otherwise there is a
charge depending on weight, where it is coming from, etc.

Freddy-
sorry if this double posts - cant seem to find my original reply.
Anyways -
Ido not want to add it to the part master, as the freight cost
varies significantly depending on a lot of factors. For example -
with some of our vendors we will get delivered freight if the cost
of our order is $xxx, otherwise we are billed for it.

Then I would probably do as you suggested and add it to the worksheet.
