Vantage 6.1 crystal

I have manged to get the customer table so i can interact with it in
Access. but If i ODBC that in i still get no indexes.

i will have to search for the "Foreign Key view" to see if it is
different to what i did before.

We plan to move to 8 / 9 later in the year

cheers for the thoughts.

Hi

in the aged Receiveable report i ned to sort by Customer Group.
which is not one of the exported fields.

If i add the customer table via ODBC to the crystal report it will not
link in as there apprears to be no index comming across.

If i add a sub-report could i use that to sort all the data?

the easy way IF it is possible would be to add the customer group to
the data exported by Vantage. Is it posible to change these things?

If so how?

cheers for any ideas

The Customer table has too many indexes for ODBC. There is a procedure available for creating a "foreign key view" for reducing the number that ODBC sees but I've never been able ot make it work (but also did not spend a lot of time on it either). Search EpicWeb for ODBC & Indexes. Other alternatives would be to export the Customer table (or selected fields) to a .CSV file and have the report reference that but it probably would mean a performance hit. As far as I know there is no way in 6.10 to alter the fields extracted into the .DBF files that Crystal uses. The data extracts are all canned Progress routines. The export to XML in 8.03.4xx and the ability to customize what is included is #1 in my book for justifications to migrate but technical details like that are a hard sell to management.

Many, many people do the foreign key thing so concentrating there would probably be the most productive route.
