Vantage 61 Engineering Workbench (EWB)

We do EWB the same as Alexander described below, one workgroup per ECO

We need the delineation for the history and traceability (we are in medical
manufacturing)

We are on Vantage 61 and using the (EWB). We would like to know how other users in this group use the "EWB".
The way we set it up is that each of the Engineers has their own group
EX: Dan. So on.
They will then check-out a part in their group modify the part and then save it as a new rev etc.

I do not believe that we are using the EWB correctly. But have not been able to get any help from Epicor. They do not seem to know exactly how we should work it.

This is how we use it also. Note that you do not need to change the
rev. each time you go into a part file. It helps to use the change log
to note anything that you change. Also, you do not need to check out a
part just to view it; (in Part File Maint)if you right click the part
- open with Part Tracker - click the Revision Tab - click BOM. You can
view the part the same as in Eng. Work Bench (view only).

Larry,

I won't profess to be the absolute expert, but I have spent quite a bit of
time looking at and playing with the ECO groups and workflows etc.

The approach you are taking is same as was taken here for a long time. The
advantage is that people can immediately tell what stuff they have open, and
you can track who has something checked out.

The limitation is that you get a sea of changes over time, all in the same
ECO work group - and therefore data overload.

The way I have moved to doing it, which seems in concert with the intention
of the software design, is to open a new ECO workgroup for each given ECO, or
type of ECO. Once completed, you close it. Easy to see what's open and
being worked - and the nice thing is if you want a quick reference of all
affected parts from a given ECO - you view the closed ECO - and everything
checked out to that group is right there...

For example - I have made some wholesale (nearly global) changes in WC's -
made an ECO group called WC Change from X to Y. I've had changes driven by
customer ECO - put the ECO number in there as the ECO Workgroup.

Hopefully this helps.

We are on Vantage 61 and using the (EWB). We would like to know how other
users in this group use the "EWB".
