Vantage 8.0 Server

"Dell claims quad cores in a dual-socket server configuration can
deliver 63% better computing performance, and 40% better performance
per watt, than dual-core processors in four sockets."

YMMV

We will be running off of four servers and a SAN for storage.

Dell
PowerEdge 1850, Dual Xeon 3.6GHz Processors, 4GB RAM, Mirrored 36GB

Hard Drives
Server 3 (Applications Server (i.e. AdvanceWare)): Windows 2003
Standard,
Dell PowerEdge 1850, Dual Xeon 3.6GHz Processors, 4GB RAM, Mirrored
36GB
SCSI Hard Drives
Server 4 (Web Server (i.e. ServiceConnect, CustomerConnect)):
Windows 2003
Standard, Dell PowerEdge 1850, Dual Xeon 3.6GHz Processors, 2GB RAM,
Mirrored 36GB SCSI Hard Drives

Vantage V8

We are currently looking in to buying a new server for Vantage 8.0, and
begin testing it in our environment.

The hardware requirements that Epicor recommends are, to have 4 Dual
Core Xeons or better. They also recommend having 4, or more GB of RAM.

When we spoke with our hardware vendor, he recommended that we should go
with 2 Quad Xeons instead of 4 Dual Core.

The question is which's better?

Is there any performance difference between these two?

We would also appreciate any other information's that would help us in
getting the right hardware for our environment.

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian Jakubowski
