Vantage 8.0 Service Connect

Edward,

I have created a folder named Service Connect in the Files section of
this group. Inside there is a Work in Progress document for setting
up Service Connect

I hope this helps you.

We are attempting to get Service Connect (SC) setup and running for
another major project where we need data input into Vantage through an
automated process, which we are developing for Vantage 8.0.

Does anyone have any notes or documentation other than what Epicor
provided? There seems to be a lot of holes going unanswered when
attempting use the printed materials available on implementation of
SC. The more we try to use the information provided, the more
questions we have.

At present we have Web Services installed with Vantage Services setup
on the Vantage 8.0 server. We have a separate server with SC and the
SQL DB installed. We have been unsuccessful in getting Vantage
Services to display in web format from the web server. Then we have a
ton of questions as to when things happen from creating XML documents
and exactly how to configure SC.

Any help the group could give us, would be greatly appreciated. I will
look forward to any and all responses.
Hi Edward,
On the machine that has the web services installed, open up Internet
Information Services Manager from the administrative tools menu.
Expand the server name. Expand web sites. Expand default web site. You
should see a yellow gear looking thing with the name of the folder for
the web services (VantageServices ?)
Click on that and the list of services should be shown in the right hand
panel.
to test the web server while still on that machine click start - run and
type http://localhost/vantageservices/abccodeservice.asmx and hit the
enter key

If that works then so far so good.

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage 8.0 Service Connect

Apparently there is a lot more to the machine and network settings than outlined in the Installation Guide.

Not sure if going to training would even help.

As products go - its great when working but its hell on earth to figure out without comprehensive install instructions.
