Creating the new report definition is not that hard, they give you
the ability to copy the old over and modify it. You can add fields,
and even use the related tables functionality to add fields from
other tables (example, a code is on the report, you want to display
the text description from the code master file). You've got to be
careful in the report definition maintenance program, as there's
bugs in it (click on table A and it doesn't show right; click on
table B, then back on table A, then it's correct).
The only issue I have is when you've got data that Vantage would
think is unrelated, and you may need to create subreports (example,
we grab data from the sales order for the job traveler). However,
this is more a result of the way we do business than anything I'd
expect the software to do.
