Vantage 8.0 - Tale of 2 companies

We're one of those companies--and the data was scrubbed with my 10 little
fingers (me and a fleet of other people). A few of the master tables were
pulled over by our in-house custom programmer. Everything else was hand
entered (Methods, Open Jobs and Open Sales and Purchase Orders) by
Engineering, Sales, Production Control and Purchasing. We had to do it by
hand because we were changing things so drastically.

We only carried over parts that we'd used within a certain period of time,
which cut down the work drastically, then started with the parts that had
open orders or jobs, or were identified as probably going to have an order
soon. We still have to enter a part from the old database occasionally, and
we do that by hand as well.

We just got service connect, so we definitely didn't have it at the time (1
year ago).

I have read postings of organizations who are setup to use two companies
in 8.0. One company was read only history carried over from pervious
versions. The other for the new & improved organization which has been
data scrubbed.

I have started looking into the nuts & bolts of this setup, and cannot
figure out how the data was scrubbed and carried into the new improved
company.

Database to Database is not a problem, but Database to company appears
to be an issue. Was Service Connect used?

Thank you,
