Vantage 8.0 To go or not to go

Vantage 8 is getting better but Electroimpact still has issues with it.
Patch 711, due next Monday, should have the last of the large-job
performance problems resolved. Just yesterday we set responsibilities for
all departments to get involved and start converting to 8 with the
assumption the remaining issues will be resolved when we're ready. I suggest
you download the latest V8 Change List and see the amount and type of recent
changes. The last two patches were released on a biweekly schedule, weekly
before. I'll send you our Issue Log offline.

Hello,
I am currently implementing Vantage 6.1 at five sites. I have two fully
implemented but those sites only contain about 10% of my users.

I have heard from this group that Vantage 8.0 has really improved with the
release of the latest patch.

My question is, Should I upgrade the two current sites to 8.0 and then
proceed with 8.0 with the bulk of the users or should I stay the course with 6.1 and
then next year upgrade to 8.0.

My two concerns are:

1) 8.0 is not yet ready
2) If I continue with 6.1, we will be basically starting over next year with
8.0

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jeremy

One danger I see in getting caught up in 8.0 customization "opportunities" at the two sites (especially now that 6.1 is a known situation and desires for improvements will come to mind - yours and users) and lead to getting tangled in them at the expense of getting the other sites "running". A critical question would be how "similar" are these sites and woudl the other three benefit from customizations done for the two pioneers? Also would you and your learning curve for 8.0 carry forward to the trailing three sites?

If the sites are really diffeent businesses and true "standalone" companies with their own databases I think I would opt for finishing the 6.1 implementations and let 8.0 mature - while at the same time keeping an 8.0 eye out for the next phases and customization opportunities. On the other hand if they are all really homogenous operations and "one size fits all" PLUS the three can survive maybe a year of delay...then go for 8.0 and save the re-conversion hassles at those three larger sites - plus have experienced 8.0 coaches at the two sites.

Just the 1st thoughts off the top of my head anyway.
