[Vantage 8.0]

Joe,

Unless you need to actually virtualize the entire os, you can get the same
isolation and RAS capabilities without the performance overhead by
virtualizing the applications instead.

Benefits of VMware include being able to move the virtual machines off
to other servers in case of server hardware failure or server
maintenance (adding more drives to RAID arrays, etc.), also being able
to backup an entire Virtual Machine to one file for disaster recovery,
and being able to run more than just Vantage and SQL Server on the huge
server we bought. (DELL PowerEdge 6800 with 4 dual core processors and 6
GB of RAM).

Why VMWare? If you are going to us both on 1 server and plan to in the
future, then why not just put both applications on the same server? You
would save the overhead of VMWare.

Anyone running VMware on their Vantage server? We plan on running SQL
and wanted to separate SQL server from the Vantage server. We also
wanted to use the SQL server for other application.
