Vantage 8.03.405a Reports not preveiwing from any workstation

Here are my notes on this issue (did a similar thing as you, VM server
first then actual server, wrote these notes down to help myself in the
many installations) hope they help:

AppServer URL should be: AppServerDC://localhost:8303
Port of Task Agent AppServer service found in progress explorer

AppServer URL should be: AppServerDC://localhost:8301
Port of database – found in progress explorer or bottom portion of
client screen

Fill in a username and password with system manager rights in the
client.

Server File Directory: physical drive name EG: D:\epicor\MfgSysData
Client File Directory: UNC path to epicor directory eg
\\servername\epicorshare\MfgSysData

Client Program Directory: UNC path to epicor directory
\\servername\epicorshare\mfgsys803\Server

Re-start AppServers: MfgSys803TaskAgent and MFgSys803ProcessServer

Printing should now work

Hope this helps.
I have Vantage 8.03.405a running in a test enviroment and i am having a
problem with the reports not preveiwing or printing from any of the
client machines. If i run the reports direct from the server they work
fine. When running from the clients i get the following error.

Could not find a part of the
path 'C:\MfgSysData\Reports\<user>\PurchaseOrder57797.xml'

I am thinking that there maybe a config file somewhere that is telling
the clients to look for the xml files in the C:\ drive of each client
instead of looking in the <server>. I have the required crystal runtime
installed on each client doing the testing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason Abramczyk
I believe you need to setup the system agent with a UNC path to the
reports folder

You're System Agent (Client File Directory) should be pointing to your
MfgSysData Share on the server and should be in the form:

\\SERVER\MfgSysData

Mark W.
I have checked the system agent and the client file directory is
pointing to \\<server>\MfgSysData\Live. Im stumped.

Is this test environment on the same machine? A different machine? If
different, did you remember to change the server name? If same, did you
update the port IDs in the System and Task appServer?

Did you restart your appServers after you modified the System Agent?

Mark W.
A couple things to fix this problem.

1- For ease of everything, make sure both the Server File Directory and the
Client File Directory are pointing to the exact same location. You can put a
Drive letter for the Server, as long as it is the same location accessed by
the client through the share, but personally it is best to just use
identical UNC paths, it does not affect speed no matter what someone may
have told you, nor does it affect speed.

2- After you make any changes to these fields, completely stop and restart
the TaskAgent and Process server for this specific database.

3- Check file permissions on the client, if the person doesn't have access
rights to the folder, then they won't be able to open up the report once it
is printed.

Maybe check the folder permissions on the server.

We are running the test enviroment on a VMware virtual server. I have
checked the permissions on the virtual server and have allowed
everyone access. The server name is different to our live machine. I
can't think of what else it could be.

You cannot have the client reports folder pointing to the C: Drive. Change both locations to a UNC.

Steve,

I have checked the client file directory and the location is:
\\<server>\mfgsysdata\live

This is why i am stumped on why the clients are looking in
C:\mfgsysdata\reports\<user> for the xml files. I have restarted the
appservers after any changes made.
Is there any where else that i need to check?

I have seen problems with changing the default from \\
<file:///\\%3cserver%3e\mfgsys> <server>\mfgsys to something else to get the
reports o run. Try changing it back to the default and see if that works.
