We had a visit from another Epicor 9.04 user. They are using MMR for reporting financial information. Our VP was sold.

We contacted Epicor to purchase MMR. Our sales rep said that MMR will work with Epicor 9. He also said that it would be very expensive to make it work with Vantage 8. He could not give us any specific reason.

Does anyone know what is different in Epicor 9 that would not allow us to use MMR in Vantage 8?
The General Ledger structure has changed dramatically between Vantage8
and Epicor9. The data models that MMR uses to understand what's in the
database are all geared to Epicor9's table structure. They'd have to
write a data model for MMR to use, which they don't want to do because
they want to push customers to E9.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Hopefully, we can make our VP understand.

Thanks for the info.

'Microsoft Management Reporting' (MMR) ?.

Now that an MS product that I'm not at all familiar with. I thought I knew most of the MS SQL reporting tools, SSRS + SSIS etc., but this is a new one on me.

Is it a genuine new product or just Epicor's name for a bundle of Microsoft solutions together ?.

Thanks.

From what I understand MMR is a replacement for FRx. I don't understand everything about this tool. However, from what I hear it's mainly for Financial/Accounting reporting.

I don't think this functions as a full blown reporting package like SSRS or Crystal.
