Vantage 8.03.409C

Thanks Cooner,
They are sending a new scheduling engine as we speak. We have a test server that
has 8.03.409C on it. We had tested it there as well to no success. They are
claiming that when we upgraded we didn't take the new scheduling engine with it.
Hoping this fixes it. Glad to know it works on yours, that does give me some
reassurance!!
Thanks for the infomation, much appreciated.
Michael

Hi Michael,

Not 100% sure I had a job setup like yours.
But anyway...
Job - two operations both finish to start.
Forward scheduled with a start of 4/14 and finish of 4/19.

I moved the second op to start at 4/13.
The first op stayed at start 4/14 and the job finish stayed at 4/19.

BTW, I did upgrade from 8.03.305L to 8.03.409C in August.
It was only about an 8 hour deal and I spread it out over the weekend so as not
to stress too much.

To to fix MRP issues.
MRP still throws a zinger once in a while but it is MUCH better.

We are currently running version 8.03.409A and I am having trouble with the job scheduling board not letting me move operations only. The answer to my troubleshooting call was to upgrade to 8.03.409C. I was wondering if anyone out there is running the upgraded version and if you are able to move operations only in the job scheduling board.

Just checked our schedule board in
8.03.409C....does not let you move an operation
or operation and subsequent ops.

Whatif schedule also appears non-functional

I stand corrected.

Initial experimentation seemed not to work at all.

Second round seemed to have the Whatif move to a
later date but not to an earlier date.

Third round of test got it to work both forwards
and retrograde on job & Subsequent branch.

Is it my imagination, or did Tech Support used to be able to test in
versions other than just the latest? There's nothing more frustrating than
having an issue, going through six months waiting for the upgrade to fix it,
only to find out it's broke in the current version. Then to top it off, the
current version you just upgraded is no longer the current version, so
you're back to fighting the "can't duplicate it in the current version".

Just ventin'

Hi cooner,
Our job methods are usually start to finish if that is what you are asking. The
steps I use to move is this: I open the job in scheduling board and drill down
to the operations that I want to move. I double click the operation or just
simply hold the left mouse button down until I get the move finger. Then I drag
the operation to the day desired. A dialogue box comes up asking me if I want to
forward schedule or backwards schedule the job. Then off to the right is a drop
down that allows you to move operation only, assembly all operations, all
subsequent operations as well. When I select the operations only and click ok,
instead of just the operation moving, the whole job moves. I can't have this
because I have constrained workcenters that these operations feed. I appreciate
any help I can get.

ThanksÂ
Mike

We have 8.03.409C and keep a test server running.
Can you be more specific about your jobs methods? and the steps you are trying
to use to move the op?

Email or offline?
I think I'll have time to check it out it.

Thanks

The latest word from Phil at epicor is that they have a new scheduling engine to
go with 8.03.409C. Let's see if this works. I will update. Thanks for the info.

They seem to want to always send an upgraded version. They need to fix it in the
version we are in...... frustrating... who purchases all the bandaids they hand
out????
