Vantage 8 and Crystal Reports

Chris,

In Vantage 8, you'll be using ODBC and RPT files. The concept of exe
files has gone away and Crystal has produce da viewer that is built
in to Vantage to view the report.

As far as the button goes, there is no way to transfer data from
Vantage 8.0 to Crystal like there was in 6.x. However, there is a
workaround. You might want to get a book on Crystal and take a look
at Parameters (I can also send you more info if you need -- please
email me). The Parameter option will prompt a form where the user
will type in the criteria. You can have more than one parameter. It
is not as slick as scraping, say, the invoice number off the record
that you are currently on and transferring it to Crystal, but at
least it is something.

Also, I'm not sure how to hang it off the button, or if it is
possible. I know what I described above can be done from the Menu
without a problem.

Lastly, you need to configure ODBC under the System Agent.
Otherwise, the user is going to get prompted for a user name and
password everytime. Vantage has a nice doc on configuring ODBC and
the default progress user id and password.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

I can't find anything in Crystal documentation of how to execute a compiled report. Want to add a button to the PO Entry screen to execute a Crystal Report, supplying it with parameters from the screen and also prompt for some. Can this be done?
